Our member services do, on occasion, accept students and volunteers. There are some barriers with volunteer insurance, privacy and security for residents, staff and volunteers.
Students are encouraged to contact their course advisors who may have links to refuges in their area. Volunteers and students must contact the services themselves directly.
Students and volunteers should have already obtained Working with Children and Police checks before requesting to donate their time. NSW Volunteers are required to do this themselves through the NSW Commission for Children and Young people and NSW Police Force.
DV services are generally staffed from 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday with on-call workers available on the weekend. All volunteers must be supervised by a staff member.
Due to privacy and safety reasons, Domestic Violence NSW will NEVER give direct contact information to any person within the community. You may view a list of NSW accommodation services here.
