People with Disabilities Australia – Enable In project

The Enable In project targets people with disability who are from hard to reach group both from geographical perspective as well as circumstances related to their living situation including homelessness, women in prison, people with disability in institutions, and people living in boarding houses throughout NSW. We are aiming to work with both individuals and service providers to understand the current position for these client groups. Our work will also include providing information about the NDIS and mainstream supports that will assist individuals with their disability needs.

Moreover we are planning to develop a Project Advisory Group with representatives from people with a disability and service providers who work with those hard to reach client groups. We are currently taking EOI’s for the Project Advisory Group and will be happy to forward on the EOI form if you are interested or know of anyone who is interested.

With the assistance and guidance from the Project Advisory Group, we will be establishing Peer Support Groups for people with disability who are also from the hard to reach target group. The goal is to enhance opportunities to understand the current situation including service availability, and identify additional service scope for existing services as well as new providers, and individuals’ needs within each of the communities from hard to reach populations. Further to the peer support groups there will be training provided to establish peer navigators to promote leadership and self-advocacy skills whilst also sharing and learning from each other’s experiences.
