With over 180 members DVNSW is the peak body for specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) services in New South Wales. We work as a collaborative and passionate team to end gendered violence through leadership of the specialist DFV sector and the NSW policy environment. Role Overview
Funded through Homes NSW, this project is an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) Industry and Workforce Development Program. The program is focused on building the capacity of crisis accommodation services who provide crucial support for women and children escaping domestic and family violence (DFV). We are one year into this exciting project and have recently received confirmation of ongoing funding until 30 June 2027.
The role will work with partner peak bodies Homelessness NSW and Yfoundations in the delivery of the Work Plan. There is a particular focus on engaging the workforce across four priority groups including Aboriginal staff, staff with lived experience, staff from multicultural backgrounds and staff from regional and remote areas. The role will require analysis and synthesis of consultation findings to develop recommendations and produce written reports in partnership with the identified peaks.
Key Project deliverables
The SHS Workforce Development Officer is responsible for the delivery of the key project deliverables with support from their line manager. Note: Project deliverables may change based on contracting requirements.
- Establish, co-ordinate and facilitate online Communities of Practice to support specific staffing cohorts, DFV specialisation and service delivery to support client outcomes.
- Work with a consultant and the identified peaks to provide expert advice for the review of the SHS Case Management Resource Kit.
- Work with a consultant and/or alone as appropriate to develop and deliver tailored capacity building resources and training modules to support frontline workers in a refuge setting.
- Partner with the identified peaks to prepare the sector for recommissioning in 2026 by providing a variety of resources including webinars, sector chats, information sessions etc.
- Synthesise consultation themes into key findings and recommendations to support recruitment and retention of key staffing cohorts and workforce solutions and produce written reports and/or presentations containing this analysis.
- Partner with identified Peaks to produce a final report identifying priorities for an SHS Workforce Development Strategy led by Homes NSW
About you
To be suitable for this role, you would need:
- Experience in the domestic and family violence services sector or homelessness sector is essential.
- Understanding of workforce environment and needs across the sector is essential.
- Training background or background in resource development preferred.
- Consultation and facilitation experience.
- Strong report writing skills including ability to analyse and synthesise information.
- Proactive, can-do attitude, willing to lead this project and work independently.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly organised, experience managing shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in policy is desirable.
- Tertiary education in a relevant discipline such as social science, community development, psychology etc. is desirable or equivalent work experience.
