EOI now open: DVNSW Aboriginal Steering Committee

We are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people across New South Wales to join our Aboriginal Steering Committee. We have multiple positions available and welcome applications from people with a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and connections to community.

The Steering Committee plays an important role guiding our work, strengthening our advocacy, and ensuring that Aboriginal perspectives, knowledges, and community priorities are centred in our responses to domestic, family, and sexual violence.

Who can apply?

Membership may consist of (but is not limited to) Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are:

  • Working in and/or leading domestic, family, and/or sexual violence services
  • Working in early intervention or prevention
  • Connected to issues of violence through employment, academic expertise, or community roles
  • Recognised in community as a support when violence happens
  • Interested and experienced in addressing domestic, family, and sexual violence

You do not need to be a DVNSW member to apply.

While all eligible applications are welcome, we especially invite applications for:

  • People working in WDVCAS
  • People based in a rural, regional, or remote area
  • Men supporting other men through healing, accountability, or behaviour‑change pathways

These identified positions help ensure diverse representation and lived expertise across the Committee’s membership.

What does the role involve?

Committee members commit to:

  • Four quarterly meetings per year, held both online and in person
  • At least one meeting per year in a regional, rural, or remote NSW location
  • Additional consultations, discussions, or reviews as needed throughout the year
  • Optional contributions to working groups or review processes (online or via email)

All Committee members are remunerated in line with the DVNSW Paid Participation Policy.

Selection process:

  • EOIs close on Friday 27 February 2026
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal interview with 2–3 current Steering Committee members
  • Successful applicants will be announced on Friday 3 April 2026
