Good Practice Guidelines

Our Good Practice Guidelines provide a framework to strengthen service design and delivery across the specialist domestic and family violence sector. They are designed to support safe and consistent responses to ensure positive outcomes for victim-survivors.

All DVNSW members are required to follow these guidelines as part of their commitment to best practice and sector accountability. The Second Edition of the Guidelines builds on extensive feedback from the sector and incorporates key recommendations from an independent review by the University of New South Wales in 2019/20.

Conversations That Count Podcast

Conversations That Count is our podcast exploring the complexities of coercive control through powerful conversations with industry experts and lived-experience advocates.

Now in its second season, the series takes listeners deeper into the issues shaping this national conversation, examining coercive control legislation, unpacking misidentification, highlighting best practice, and exploring how the law works in practice.

Quality Standards

We’re leading the co-design and delivery of the NSW Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Quality Standards – a landmark framework to guide and strengthen good practice across all domestic and family violence services in the state.

For more information on the Quality Standards, email the team at admin@dvnsw.org.au

The Prevention Collaboration

We coordinate the NSW Prevention Collaboration, bringing together 150 members from education, local government, community organisations, non-profits, NSW government agencies, and individual practitioners.

The Prevention Collaboration exists to lift the capability and capacity of prevention practitioners in NSW by strengthening gender transformative practice and promoting the primary prevention of gender-based violence. We do this by harnessing
collective knowledge, sharing resources, and building strong connections across diverse settings and sectors.
